Of course, they mentioned stuff like Doom, and took the "We hope to kill 250 of you." line and turned it into the genius teaser: "Columbine killers planned to kill over two hundred students. So let's just get on with our lives in spite of them, and quit freaking out every time we're reminded that they're out there. And everytime there is a killing of more that two or three people, everyone runs around wanting to know: 'Why did this happen?', 'How could this happen?', 'Who could do such a thing?' Evil people are the answer to each and every one of these questions, and they have always been among us, and always will. Now, we expect the government to protect us from all harm, we're told that a student should NEVER feel threatened at school (how realistic is that?), and we're told that having weapons that might allow us an effective self-defense is only a recipe for disaster.
The difference is that people used to understand this and take reasonable precautions for THEMSELVES. Evil people kill people all the time, all around us, and have from the beginning of time. So, two disturbed young men with evil in their hearts and minds killed other people. The difference is that ten years ago, the media wasn't hyping the Youth Gun Violence Epidemic. What? You never heard of Goddard Kansas? Well, around a decade ago, a disturbed young student went into Goddard High School with a rifle and killed and injured a number of people. Let's name a few places: Columbine high school in Littleton Colorado, Padukah(I'm sure I just misspelled that.), Jonesboro, Goddard Kansas.
